The Parliament of the European Union passed the bill that definitely bans sales of vehicles running on conventional internal combustion engines.
As per the bill on banning the sales of new gasoline and diesel cars from 2035 forward, any new cars and light commercial vehicles manufactured after that date must be emission free in order to expedite transition to the electric vehicles and fight climate change.
The pundits suggest that this new regulation shall significantly contribute to the goal of zeroing out the carbon emissions by 2050.
The new bill grants exemptions to niche brands manufacturing fewer than 10.000 vehicles per annum for installing internal combustion engines until 2036.
Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, stated that the new bill represents a key milestone in achievement of 2030 climate objectives.
